Corporate Social Responsibility

As a responsible employer, Gigamon UK is committed to a strategy of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) that recognises the importance of the markets and communities in which it operates, and leverages the breadth of its partner network to drive improvements within its business and social networks.

Like many organisations, Gigamon UK also understands the benefits that a concerted approach to CSR can bring. These include proven value adds in the areas of leadership and governance, reporting and compliance, improved employee retention, the adoption of sustainable models of consumption, and (where appropriate) local community investment.

To enable these benefits to be realised, in early 2014 Gigamon UK embarked on its CSR journey, which - starting with the initiatives outlined below - is expected to focus on areas such as increasing employee engagement, fundraising and support; promoting high-profile awareness-raising activities; reducing (especially youth) unemployment; and ongoing commitment to a sustainable and green agenda, e.g. through WEEE and associated recycling programmes.

Gigamon CSR in action

As one of Gigamon UK’s first CSR projects, during February 2014 the company was the primary sponsor for schoolboy fundraiser Jonjo Heuerman’s five-day challenge to dribble a football 50 miles to help cancer patients. The 12-year-old had already raised £145,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK, and Gigamon UK supported him in his aim to raise a further £50,000 to mark the 50th anniversary of Bobby Moore lifting the FA Cup as captain of West Ham United.

If you too would like to support Jonjo’s project, you can make a donation on his JustGiving page.

Gigamon UK’s Charity of the Year for 2014 is Cardiac Risk in the Young. CRY was founded in 1995 to raise awareness of conditions that can lead to young sudden cardiac death (YSCD), sudden death syndrome (SDS) and sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS).

CRY’s vision for 2014 is to work with cardiologists and family doctors to promote and protect the cardiac health of young people by establishing good practice and screening facilities devoted to significantly reducing the frequency of young sudden cardiac death throughout the UK.

Further examples of Gigamon UK’s CSR activities will be published on this page throughout 2014.
